The AM Engineer is responsible for design and development of components using Additive Manufacturing (AM). As part of that, this roll will be responsible for design, development, and production roll out of a microturbine engine using AM. This includes hands on component design, cycle design, drawing generation with proper application of GD&T, simulations using FEA/CFD tools, test planning and also conducting the testing events, all the way through qualification and production role out. As the overall product owner, this role is responsible for ensuring all components within the assembly are designed and tested to meet requirements and use sound engineering principles while adhering to industry standards, best practices, organizational procedures, and program requirements. Other efforts may include but are not limited to development and delivery of training materials as needed, mentoring junior engineers, assisting in process improvement efforts, participate in various technical challenges and team support activities. This role will be working in a highly agile environment in a multifunctional team and therefore, being a team player and having flexibility, adaptability, attention to detail are key to success. Strong communication and presentation skills are a must for this role to communicate within the team as well as customers and subcontractors. The applicant must be able to work on government contracts.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. BS degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
2. 8+ years of experience in product development
3. 6+ years of experience in design and development of microturbines OR gas-turbines OR propulsion components for jet engines (preferably microturbine engines)
4. 5+ years of experience in design and development of engine cycle design
5. 5+ years of experience in coordinating and performing engine testing
6. 5+ years of experience with Computer Aided Design software, preferably SolidWorks.
7. Experience in conducting simulation and FEA/CFD analysis using an industry standard analysis tool such as ANSYS/Fluent
8. Familiarity with various manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, extrusion, CNC machining, injection molding, thermoforming, etc.
9. Attention to detail and organizational skills.
10. Ability to perform extensive research, catalogue findings during development activities, and write reports for both internal and external use.
11. Effective interpersonal communication and presentation skills with coworkers and clients at all levels.
12. Self-motivation with ability to work with minimal supervision.
13. Successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
14. Excellent communication skills to include presentation skills
15. Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. MS. In Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace engineering).
2. Working knowledge of Air Force propulsion requirements and expectations.
3. 5+ years of experience performing FEA/CFD analysis using ANSYS to include static and dynamic analysis, flow analysis, engine cycle design.
4. 3+ years of practical experience in 2D drawing generation, including application of GD&T.
5. Experience with Additive Manufacturing, including print file generation.
6. Experience with failure analysis, root cause determination and corrective action.
7. Experience with Model Based Definition generation (SolidWorks preferred)
8. Experience developing training.
9. Experiencing conducting training to internal and external customers.
10. Hands on experience conducting reverse engineering.
11. Experience working in ISO certified and/or AS9100 certified facility.
