JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Finance & Business in Hershey, PA is looking for a Senior Accountant that will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial data for the College of Medicine.
This will include performing advanced analysis and reconciliation of complex accounting records and interpreting analytical results, researching and resolving complex accounting problems and/or discrepancies, and developing appropriate accounting processes to proactively create accurate financial data.
Responsibilities will also include development, in conjunction with their manager, of routine audit procedures for internal activity and implementation of the developed processes. The successful candidate will also be able to correspond with and provide accounting support and training to other COM financial staff as needed, field and answer questions regarding financial operations/accounting/policy/etc. They will also work closely with their manager to provide financial data and schedules to the central finance offices for the university as needed. The role will provide accounting expertise to other COM controller's office functions including, but not limited to, cost accounting, internal billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and intercompany finances. The role will also assist with financial systems management and help to ensure the proper processes and structures are in place to support reliable financial management and outcomes.

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

8+ years related experience

Bachelor’s Degree or higher

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

The following clearances must be successfully completed for this position: 

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check 
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History- 
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
