Department Summary
The Caruth Police Institute, a Center of Excellence at the University of North Texas at Dallas, was founded in 2008 to advance the field of policing through research and training. Through innovative partnerships with the City of Dallas, UNT Dallas, and the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute, CPI provides leadership training to law enforcement personnel throughout the North Texas region, as well as policy analysis, research, and consulting.
Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas and the Caruth Police Institute (CPI) invite applications for the position of Senior Academic Program Manager. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the University and CPI seek a self-starting individual who will primarily contribute to facilitating and delivering innovative advanced professional development opportunities to law enforcement and criminal justice personnel. 
CPI is a fast-growing, independent grant-funded institute embedded in the Dallas Police Department. CPI provides management and leadership professional development opportunities to promote transformational change in law enforcement and criminal justice. Minimum Qualifications
  •  Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in related field at the time of hire 
  • At least one year of related professional experience and experience with curriculum development.  
  • Applicants should have between 1-2 years of demonstrated experience teaching in a post-secondary education environment or professional development milieu.

  • Knowledge of use of technology and how it can be integrated into adult learning. 
  • Knowledge of adult teaching methods.

  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and conduct multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
● A completed Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Criminal Justice or a closely related field at the time of hire.
● At least four years of professional experience in a law enforcement environment as well as demonstrated experience teaching in a post-secondary education environment or professional development milieu.
● Applicants should also demonstrate knowledge of research methods and study design.
Required License / Registration / Certification
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5pm with occasional weekends/evenings based on class scheduling.

Job Duties


o
● Facilitate and deliver curriculum to law enforcement and criminal justice practitioners as needed
o
● Assist in the development of new programming/modify of existing programming as directed
o
● Assist in outreach efforts/marketing to develop new client opportunities to expand the growth of the institute (Ex: Fire department, DFW Airport security, college campuses, DFW school officers.)
o
● Assist with research projects as needed
o
● Other duties as assigned
