Position Summary
The Senior Academic Advisor of Academic Advising & Student Affairs is an integral member of the Undergraduate team that serves as a four-year academic advisor for undergraduate business degree candidates, serves as an advisor to second majors and minors and works with Olin and university students and student organizations.


Job Description

This position requires willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary. Willingness to travel up to 15% of time both domestically and internationally.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as a four-year academic advisor and subject matter expert to approximately 125-150 BSBA degree candidates.
  • Serves as a second major/minor advisor to non-business degree candidates – number will vary.
  • Serves as functional area liaison, work with area faculty, career center advisors and become area expert, consult as needed on course sequencing and major revision.
  • Development and leadership of academic initiatives and programs that support all students and advance the schools strategic goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that all academic policies are processes are clearly communicated to both students and advisors.
  • Develops a comprehensive academic advising program to holistically support students and help them gain and apply interpersonal skills for the benefit of themselves, their organizations and the school.
  • General academic, program, and university support including but not limited to the development of the programs’ strategy, partnership with Olin faculty and other university senior leadership on initiatives; an expectation to develop and maintain relationships and regularly engage alumni to support the program strategy.
  • Serves as a lead instructor for the first year student seminar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education, business, or in a related field.
  • Extensive experience with advising, mentoring and working with college students.
  • Demonstrated success in designing leadership opportunities and working with students groups/related organizations.
  • Extensive track record of program development, initiatives and execution.
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Commitment to designing and delivering excellent academic and student affairs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five years’ experience  in an educational or academic setting or Master's degree and three years of experience.

Salary Range
$53,900.00 - $92,200.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
