Job Description
ECU Department of Water Resources is currently seeking Youth Program Facilitators who will lead the 2024-2025 Community Water Corps program.
Youth Program Facilitators work with university personnel and individuals from one or more of our partnering communities (Princeville, Greenville, Nags Head, and Hyde County), which range from town leaders to middle and high school students. You will design and implement STEM programming for youth, with an emphasis on how they can use science to solve local problems of interest. Working with project personnel, facilitators will conduct training sessions, assist with community science programming for kids (including a summer camp), assist in designing and implementing youth programming at project sites, and facilitate programming and environmental research activities.
As a Youth Programs Facilitator, you will:
- Design fun and engaging activities and programs to involve youth in science to benefit their community.
- Coordinate with Community Liaisons and partnered community organizations to tailor youth programming to that community and recruit youth participants.
- Lead the youth programming activities in your assigned communities.
- Provide opportunities for youth to learn about science and gain some technical skills.
- Encourage youth appreciation for nature through outdoor activities (e.g., kayak trips, walks).
- Foster positive mentoring relationships with youth to help support their career goals.
- Work with communications staff to create marketing materials on youth programs to share with community members.
- Undergo all appropriate training to work with youth and follow best practices for youth safety.
- Assist with summer community science camps.
- Report to program leaders, community partners, and other project participants

· Ability to come to ECU’s campus regularly during regular work hours and flexibility to work evenings/weekends for events.
 Review of applications will begin on February 29th and will continue until the positions are filled.
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
The positions are open to ECU students older than 18 years old who want to make a difference in communities throughout eastern NC. No specialized science background is needed (on the job training will be provided) and students of any major are welcome, though some experience with water chemistry, ecology, GIS, environmental justice, community organizing, or environmental issues is helpful.
