Job Description
ECU Department of Student Involvement & Leadership is currently seeking several Central Reservations Office Event Assistant Specialist. The Event Assistant Specialist position is a part-time position with clerical responsibilities that work with and support the functions of the Student Centers including Office Assistants, Computer Lab Assistants, Welcome Center Assistants, Student Ushers, Event Assistants, and Central Reservations Office Assistants.
Customer Service Specialists are directly supervised by professional staff within the Department of Student Involvement and Leadership.
The Event Assistant Specialist is expected to fulfill the following general roles and responsibilities:
• Administrator: Complete all necessary paperwork, forms, and tasks. Maintain logs as required. Attend scheduled shifts and know the staff manual protocols.
• Customer Service: Acknowledge and greet students, staff, faculty, and University guests. Know campus resources and departmental functions in which to work with faculty, staff, students, and guests of the University so that they can connect all listed people to resources as deemed appropriate. Assist with navigating through campus, and keep the supervisors informed. Help create a welcoming environment.
• Clerical Aid: Be able to file records, maintain records/logs, answer telephone calls, and relay messages to appropriate contacts. Be able to operate common office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, calculators, and fax machines.
• Set Ups for Event Assistants: Be able to read operations reports and complete all setups and break downs for events. Safely lift and arrange tables, chairs, and other items required for set-up completion. Break down tables, chairs, and other items throughout the University’s student centers as well as Brody School of Medicine.
• Security: Provide for the safety of patrons during events, enforce facility policies and capacity, and deter theft. Be knowledgeable of emergency evacuation and lock down procedures.
• Team Member: Attend all training sessions. Support staff team and help as needed. Maintain positive communication with the staff and all Student Involvement & Leadership employees.
• University Representative: Serve as a positive role model. Serve the needs of students, staff, faculty, and University guests. Be mindful of social media tags and posts. Represent Student Involvement & Leadership as well as East Carolina University positively.

Applicants should be prepared to work at Brody School of Medicine and Health Sciences Student Center.
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Applicants should be enrolled as a student and be in good academic standing with East Carolina University as well as with local, state, and federal laws. Additionally, candidates must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.00.
