Job Description
ECU department of Student Development-Athlete Academic Services is currently seeking several academic tutors/mentors.
ECU Office of Student-Athlete Academic Services Tutor and Mentor program offers current student-athletes access to a variety of academic support in which to help them succeed. Our program consists of structured team study halls, individual and group tutoring, academic mentors, and study skills workshops which are provided to our student-athletes at no cost. The program staff is selected from among the top students at ECU, who undergo a structured training program to ensure that the highest quality of services are provided, resulting in many successful experiences for all involved.
Tutors provide academic support to ECU student-athletes based on specific courses they list on their application as assigned by the tutor coordinator. The main role of the tutor is to provide clarification and supplementation to enhance a student’s understanding. Academic mentors assist students in their transition to college and in learning and applying effective study skills. Please be advised that this is a single position as a tutor/mentor.
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
For hiring consideration, applicants must:
  • Have a 3.0 or above cumulative ECU GPA
  • Have a minimum of 1 full time semester completed at ECU or hold an advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor’s, etc.)
  • Include 2 academic references for contact
  • Be able to serve as an academic and personal role model
