- Under the direction of the Living Collections Director and led daily by the Nursery Manager, the seasonal Nursery Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day maintenance of the nursery, plant propagation, watering, and various other tasks related to plant care and production. Job Responsibilities ● Perform daily watering of all plants including those within the nursery, the Garden Shop and glasshouses at the Zand Education Center. ● Assist with plant care within the nursery which can include up-potting, transplanting, propagation, pest management and movement of plants. ● Provide support for events such as plant sales and visitor engagement. ● Serve in the Saturday rotation to provide coverage for watering and visitor engagement. ● Assist in leading nursery volunteers during weekly work days and special events. ● Provide support in the collection, documentation and processing of seeds, as needed.
- Qualifications
- ● Associate degree or two (2) years of demonstrated experience in natural resources, wildlife ecology, ecosystem restoration, conservation or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. ● Ability to regularly use motorized equipment and hand tools, including tractors, mowers, chainsaws, and string trimmers while adhering to all safety protocols. ● Demonstrated knowledgeable of central Ohio flora. ● Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal). ● Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically strenuous work. ● Ability to regularly work weekends, occasional holidays, and evenings as scheduled.
