Scientist II Lipinski Lab

Updated: 2 months ago
Location: Madison, WISCONSIN
Deadline: 08 Mar 2024

Job Summary:

Research in the Lipinski Lab is focused on understanding the mechanisms that guide craniofacial development and identifying genetic and environmental influences that disrupt these mechanisms and contribute to common human birth defects like orofacial clefts. Our long-term goal is to provide a conceptual and practical foundation for development of prevention strategies based upon risk communication of specific environmental influences to sensitive populations.
The successful candidate will primarily engage in an ongoing NIH-funded project in our lab that integrates clinically relevant mouse models with multi-omics approaches to define how the epigenetic regulation of orofacial morphogenesis influences orofacial clefting risk. This will include conducting biological assays and participation in processing and analyzing large data sets (i.e. bulk and single-cell RNA-sequencing, DNA methylation sequencing) that will be generated. A strong background in developmental biology, experience with mouse genetics and embryo manipulation, and managing omics data is preferred, but all necessary training will be provided.
