The Emory Precision AI for Health Institute (EmPAtHI) and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology are seeking talented and motivated researchers at the Assistant and Associate Levels with interest and expertise in radiomics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning in the fields of medical imaging, radiology, digital pathology, oncology, cardiovascular disease, nephrology and ophthalmology.

Representative projects within EmPAtHI include distinguishing recurrent brain tumors from post-radiation changes, planning surgical margins in patients undergoing excision for rectal cancers using MRI, predicting the need of adjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer patients, amongst many others. The lab works on different patient cohorts, ranging from cancers like lung, breast, rectal, brain, head and neck, to non-oncologic related pathologies like chronic kidney disease, Alzheimers disease, cardiac failure, eye disease, and inflammatory bowel diseases.

In the past year, the members have received awards amounting to over $18M in federal, state and industry funding. Institute members published over 40 peer-reviewed papers and had >10 patents issued in 2022 alone.

The Institute offers an intellectually stimulating environment for students and postdocs to develop and apply image-computing solutions to highly translational and clinically relevant problems in oncology, cardiology, nephrology and neurology. Students and postdocs work closely with the clinical collaborators, including radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, and medical, and radiation oncologists. The Emory campus is located in the heart of Atlanta, and is within a 10 minute walk of several nationally and internationally renowned medical centers: Emory Health, Winship Cancer Center, Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta and Atlanta VA Medical Center.

EmPAtHI is also heavily involved in translational activities with a number of grants and joint projects with industry partners in medical imaging and cancer diagnostics. A number of researchers also work closely with a number of cancer diagnostic and medical imaging companies on industry sponsored research projects. Additionally, the institute has spawned three startups and averages 1 patent issuance a month.
