Job Title: Scientific Researcher 

Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $50,000/year (.825 FTE, 33 hrs./wk.)

Job Summary:

This is 100% research position meaning, conducting research under directions of the PI. This includes reading the goals and specific aims of the projects, collecting literature, designing the experiments, executing the experiments, completing required trainings and certifications, assisting PI in writing IACUC and IRB’s if required, trouble-shooting the problems, collaborating with other experts available in the College or University with PI’s permission, collecting data and analyzing data. Also writing scientific manuscripts and assisting PI in writing grant proposals in addition to writing mentor-based grants. Presenting work periodically to the PI and in scientific meetings, maintaining laboratory record is essential. Discussing the project related information and presenting the work anywhere without PI’s approval is strictly prohibited.

  • QRT-PCR
  • ELISA
  • Western Blotting
  • In vitro Cell Culture
  • Mouse ECG
  • Whole-Cell Patch- Clamp
  • Electrophysiology and Heart Physiology Techniques
  • Maintains project databases. Performs analysis of data using statistical software.
  • Instructs undergraduate students in laboratory methods.
  • Performs literature searches for appropriate laboratory techniques.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment, arranges for repair as necessary, orders and inventories laboratory supplies. May schedule the use of laboratory equipment by others

 

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Master's degree in a natural science related to the specific area of research and two years of research experience. 
  • Doctoral study in a directly related field may substitute for the required experience.
  • FLSB1310 equivalency:
    Six years of directly related experience can be substituted for a Master's degree.
    Nine years of directly related experience can be substituted for a Doctoral degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD degree in a biological, pharmaceutical, medical, or applied science.
  • Experience in cell culture research and animal research is a plus.
