Occupational Summary

Work to develop educational resources and support selection and implementation of tools to support research integrity. Resources include workshops, town hall meetings, presentations, best practice guidance documents and written communication about research integrity. In a very service oriented approach, work with researchers within Duke University to ensure effective research integrity and data management practices are in place. Assist in the development and implementation of appropriate training and support services around scientific integrity.

Work Performed

Assist in the development and implementation of training and support services around scientific integrity and data management.

Develop and execute project plans for new research integrity initiatives. Develop timelines and milestones and execute projects to meet those.

Develop and execute events to support research integrity, including workshops, town halls and presentations (both to small and large groups).

Assist in developing, collecting and disseminating research best practices, through both presentations and written communication.

Assist in the implementation of tools that support scientific integrity and data management practices.

Evaluate department and institute Science Culture and Accountability Plans which define data management practices and research processes for critical review and transparency of scientific data, assist in enhancing plans where needs are identified.

Evaluate data management plans within research units and provide assistance to research units that require assistance to meet institutional standards for data management and study design.

Identify cores, conduct interviews to understand the various details of the cores, assess data management practices, assist in enhancing plans where needs are identified. Coordinate with other offices as appropriate regarding core management and accounting issues.

Required Qualifications at this Level


Education/Training:

Work requires a bachelor of science, preferably one that is strong in the management of large amounts of data.

Previous project management experience is preferred.


Experience:

 Requires five years of experience, preferably in a research environment


Skills:

Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively interact with individuals at all levels in the organization.

Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing tasks and doing multiple tasks in the same time frame.

Ability to analyze and interpret complex scientific grants and data management plans
