Basic Function
Support the undergraduate scientific instructional programs in the Department of Chemistry. Coordinate support services for a variety of courses and provide professional and technical support requiring a broad knowledge of chemistry. This is a 10-month position, from August 16 through June 15 each year.

Distinguishing Characteristics
Under general direction of the Director of Undergraduate Services, support the undergraduate scientific instructional programs in the Department of Chemistry. Coordinate day-to-day instructional support activities for the Chemistry undergraduate instructional laboratory program, providing professional and technical support for a variety of courses requiring a broad knowledge of chemistry. Support the design and development of instructional programs and Teaching Assistant (TA) trainings and the design and construction of needed equipment and/or instrument systems. Develop laboratories or demonstrations from literature descriptions. Provide support to courses requiring an emphasis on complex design and development tasks, such as the development of experiments or demonstrations where only general theoretical concepts are identified, or the design of instructional support applications based on current research findings. Support lecture demonstrations, working with instructors to determine needed materials and scheduling and maintain a calendar of requests and required tasks. Support Chemistry Undergraduate Storeroom operations  [as needed], including inventory and budget maintenance, and hiring, training, and supervising student hourly employees.
