Position Summary
St. Anthony Catholic High School (SACHS), a division of the University of the Incarnate Word, seeks a Science Teacher to begin immediately. SACHS is a private college preparatory Catholic high school.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about violating Title IX. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duties
  • Teaches course within specified TEKS;
  • Administers assessments and grades assessments;
  • Serves as an advisor to 15-20 students;
  • Sponsors a club, activity, or sport;
  • Assists with Open House, tours, etc., as a representative of the English department as requested;
  • Attends faculty meetings, overnight retreats, evening and weekend events as requested;
  • Performs lunch duty;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the Science Curricula;
  • Strong technology skills;
  • Ability to address learning differences through differentiated instruction;
  • Ability to provide additional tutorials or study sessions with students outside the regular school day;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree.
Required Work Experience
Experience working with students at the high school level.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree;
Previous teaching experience.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Texas teacher certification or a projected plan for certification.
Work Hours
HOURS TEACHER Mon to Fri 7:30 am-4:00 pm (see faculty handbook). Some night and weekend work dependent on student activity sponsorship and special events such as Open House.
