About the role: 

The Science Product Manager will play an instrumental role in leading and continuously improving critical business systems as well as providing customer support for those systems in the form of end user support, training, and release management. They will support on-going projects and provide application support to existing systems by supporting the team during development, implementation, and maintenance of business application systems. The person in this role will build and maintain working relationships with team members, Product Owners, as well as vendors and support contacts. They will form a partnership with the business to guide upcoming work to those initiatives that solve our biggest challenges or provide the most business value in advancing the Institute’s strategic priorities.

What you’ll do: 

  • Develop user stories including researching and analyzing data to define business functions, visualization / mock-ups to help facilitate the development process, and testing and documentation.

  • Based on need, you may lead requirement/use case gathering sessions to understand and document client business requirements, architect, and configure the technical solution, demonstrate the configurations through the development of prototype systems, assist the client in testing the solution

  • Provide guidance on system product function, design, build, and support.

  • Advise client on options, risks, and any impacts on other processes or systems

  • Lead projects, priorities and activities of project team members and external consultants

  • Collaborate with capability teams to architect, design, test, and implement new features and functionality

  • Develop, support, and maintain all required system design and documentation. Deliver training of applications, as needed.

  • Demonstrate curiosity about the way things work and highlight areas of opportunity and continuous improvement

What you bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business, related field or combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • 10 or more years of experience in requirements gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements and processes.

  • Experience in an analyst role across the full software development lifecycle: system analysis and requirements gathering, design, testing, documentation, training, production support.

  • Extensive technical support experience including web-based SaaS and custom-developed business applications

  • Agile project management skills

  • Ability to lead/ participate in multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Good interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet).

Compensation Range

$113,612.80 (minimum) - $142,016.00 (midpoint) - $184,620.80 (maximum)

Pay Type:

Annual

HHMI’s salary structure is developed based on relevant job market data. HHMI considers a candidate's education, previous experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity when making job offers. Typically, a new hire for this position in this location is compensated between the minimum and the midpoint of the salary range.
