Posting Summary
Responsible for professionally and clearly communicating SEBS science, scientific processes, and impact through the development of high quality, effective and engaging science stories and professionally produced science digital outreach delivered through multiple channels to multiple audiences for the purposes of connecting and communicating SEBS science conducted by NJAES and RCE faculty to the New Jersey community, prospective students, funding agencies and the broader public audience. Work directly with SEBS scientists to embed the practice of science films within their research data with a focus on Plant Biology and Marine Science highlighting and connecting transdisciplinary areas such as food security, food sovereignty, health and nutrition, climate change and the environment. This individual would be working with faculty mentors to identify (highprofile?) research successes to be communicated through professional and engaging content for a wide range of distribution platforms including online websites, social media, Rutgers publications as well as national and international communication pathways. This individual would also facilitate the development of a digital media science library that serves as a repository to scientists’ original data and supports scientists’ grant submissions. This individual would also have responsibility for identifying and preparing grants and assisting faculty mentors in grant development support by way of professional media and written content for SEBS science and broader impact grant submissions.

Minimum Education and Experience
●     A graduate degree in an academic research field in the social sciences or biological sciences.
Certifications/Licenses
●  Driver’s License Required
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
●     Extensive experience as a science communicator  with at least 5 years’ experience working with research scientists within a university setting to communicate science research processes and impact.
●     Demonstrated ability to communicate scientific information and scientific processes effectively, clearly, and creatively in both written and visual and time-based mediums in narrative forms relatable to the general audience.
●     Extensive experience using original university produced science films to engage researchers with the broader university community and the public.  
●     Demonstrated experience communicating university-based science research  by way of broad distribution platforms reaching state, national and global audiences.
●     At least 5 years’ experience working with university students in the production and digital science outreach.
●     Demonstrated professional skill in all aspects of digital science outreach including producing, directing, writing, cinematography, editing, audio recording, color design, broadcast preparation and distribution.
●     Demonstrated successful experience working with the distribution venues including science museums.
●     Experience writing and managing grants for science communication and videos Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently or as part of a team
●     Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and remain flexible as expectations and projects shift
