The Science Laboratory Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of managing Biology, Chemistry, and Physics laboratory facilities.

Duties and Tasks:

The Science Lab Manager will be required to perform the following duties.
- Management and oversight of all biology, chemistry, physics and pre-nursing teaching laboratory preparation and maintenance activities.
- Evaluates, hires, trains, manages student laboratory assistants
- Ensure the proper maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment and facilities
- Maintain specimen collection.
- Perform inventory and maintain chemicals, specimens, models, cultures, laboratory equipment
- Order supplies as needed.
- Work with the Department Coordinator to procure, order, and reconcile lab equipment, supplies, and other lab related purchases.
- Serve as Department Safety Officer/ Chemical Hygiene Officer
- Manage and facilitate safety training and attend appropriate safety training workshops
- Provide an annual review of the Department Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Maintain and update the Department’s material safety data sheets (MSDS)
- Maintain the physical security of chemical stocks.
- Manage the disposal of chemical, biological, and other hazardous waste., and maintain relevant documentation.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience working in academic laboratories is the minimum requirement.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution is the minimum requirement.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift materials up to 20 pounds
Standing or sitting for long periods of time
Extended period of computer use
