Job Description:

The Florida Museum of Natural History and iDigBio are in search of a Science Communication Intern to work up to 20 hours per week from May through December 2024.  This position covers museum research on evolution, biodiversity, deep time, archaeology, and ancient cultures, as well as work related to mobilizing natural history collections data.  While a science background is not necessary, curiosity and interest in natural history and the ability to translate technical language for a public audience are required.  This position offers a chance to build a strong portfolio with published clips.  You will write press releases, create newsletter content, carry out administrative duties and work closely with other departments within the Museum.  Paid travel to conferences and/or workshops to cover community-wide activities will be optional though encouraged. 

This internship does not provide academic credit.

Expected Salary:

$17.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must possess strong communication and editing skills, knowledge of AP style, and be detail-oriented. 

Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should have a working knowledge of Photoshop and Microsoft Office or have the ability to learn these programs quickly.
