Description

In this role, you will serve as the Lead Scheduler for DOM/Hematology-Oncology, working primarily in the Santa Monica office with periodic travel to other hem-onc community offices. The incumbent is expected to use in-depth knowledge of hem/onc clinic and research scheduling, including infusion scheduling, to train all schedulers and Patient Communication Center agents. In addition to initial training, the incumbent will serve as a primary resource for all schedulers and PCC agents. The incumbent will possess knowledge of chemotherapy regimens and work closely with the charge nurses to ensure appropriate nurse to patient ratios. The incumbent will review daily infusion and lab schedules to ensure providers are attached. In addition to the lead duties, incumbent is expected to handle the daily tasks of a clinic scheduler including, scheduling and coordinating follow-up appointments and cancellations, scheduling research visits based on study schedule templates and scheduling infusion appointments based on length of treatment and nurse to patient ratio for assigned providers. Incumbent will also block MD and treatment schedules in CareConnect when requested; ensure valid authorization is obtained prior to scheduling appointments; complete demographics in CareConnect; coordinate referrals with other offices, including outside home health care; constantly monitor and handle CareConnect In-Basket and email messages and print After Visit Summaries. Incumbent will work very closely with the PCC, physician liaison/PSRs, all providers, charge nurses and Clinical Research Coordinators. Salary range: $22.03 – $43.68

Qualifications

Required: * At least two years oncology scheduling experience. * Ability to make independent judgements and to evaluate complex issues. * Administrative abilities to resolve complex and sensitive issues with diplomacy. * Oral communication skills to speak with individuals of varying backgrounds to obtain and convey specific information. * Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, staff, patients and all personnel. * Typing skills to prepare forms, manuscripts, and correspondence with speed and accuracy. * Ability to follow proper channels of policies & procedures, communication & work standards. * Skill to organize tasks to facilitate smooth work/patient flow. * Knowledge to schedule patient appointments and encounter patients using the CareConnect. * Knowledge to schedule patients for referrals to specialists. * Demonstrated ability to be punctual and maintain a satisfactory attendance record. * Ability to work overtime in cases of emergency. * Demonstrated ability to be punctual and maintain a satisfactory attendance record. * Skill in maintaining a harmonious work atmosphere, practicing excellent customer service. * Skill in speaking and writing clearly and using proper grammar. * Available transportation to commute between hem-onc offices.
