Job Summary

Reporting to and under general direction of the Dean, School of Business and Economics with additional lead work direction from Director of Business and Operations, the Marketing and Communications Lead (Lead) is responsible for the marketing and communication efforts for the School of Business and Economics (SBE) and its associated programs and activities. The Lead works with the SBE Leadership Team, faculty, department chairs, and campus and community stakeholders, as well as independently to develop, plan, and execute communication, public affairs, and media programs and plans including research, identification of objectives, development of themes and concepts, and overseeing creation of content and communication materials. Working closely with leadership to ensure alignment of SBE strategies with the university’s branding and marketing efforts, the Lead designs, implements, and analyzes integrated marketing and awareness campaigns, and public relations strategies. The Lead develops and issues press releases, email communications, and marketing campaigns, and serves as a communications liaison between the School and external stakeholders. The Lead is also responsible for marketing analytics and data gathering for programs and campaigns run within SBE and in conjunction with the School of Extended and International Education (SEIE).


Key Qualifications

This position requires knowledge of the fundamentals of public affairs and/or media relations, and/or some exposure to marketing and marketing research. This background normally is obtained through a college degree, which includes relevant coursework in the field, and four years of related professional or technical experience. In addition, strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in grammar, spelling, and the composition of various communication vehicles are required. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Education, or Communication, with coursework in marketing and related skills is highly preferred. Must have subject matter expertise and advanced proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and a variety of office software packages and applications, including, but not limited to, graphic design and social media platforms. Knowledge of Salesforce and related applications desired.


Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $4,104 to $5,367 a month. This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
