IT Assistant Director- SAP HR/Benefits

The Assistant Director, IT position reports to Administrative Systems Management (ASM), the SAP Center of Excellence at Duke University and Health System.  As part of ASM this position leads the team that provides system and business process support for Human Resources and Benefits.  This position serves as the team lead of the functional team supporting the HR and Benefits modules of SAP S/4 (PA/PD/MSS/ESS/Performance Mgt) as well as other HR applications under the purview of ASM.  The position reports to the Associate VP, ASM.

Duties

  • Manage the team which supports the HR/Benefits modules of SAP and other HR applications including resource allocation, priority setting, performance evaluations and planning for team member professional growth.
  • Serve as the lead resource on various new HR projects for the University and Health System.  Duties include project management, requirements analysis, design specification development, R/3 system configuration, and implementation.  Project management duties include leading meetings, developing project plans, leading design and business process change efforts, identifying security requirements, developing test plans, and overall team coordination.
  • Oversee production support for SAP HR/Payroll modules including testing upgrades, resolving integration issues with the Financial and Procurement modules, supporting key constituencies, and resolving system problems.
    Oversee production support for SuccessFactors Recruiting and Onboarding.
  • Serve as the expert configuration resource for selected modules of SAP R/3.  Primary modules supported include PA, PD, SAP Manager’s Self Service (MSS) and Employee Self Service (ESS).
  • Serve as an HR team Business Warehouse resource.  Duties include coordination with the BW lead resource for requirements analysis, data modeling, testing, security, integration with R/3 and query development and presentation.
  • Perform other duties and special projects related to the duties described above and at the direction of the Associate Vice President.

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Experience

  • A minimum of five years of experience in business operations or financial management, preferably in higher education or health care.
  • Experience in configuring and implementing HR/Benefits modules in SAP (R/3, workflow and Business Warehouse).
  • Experience in configuring and implementing SuccessFactors recruiting and onboarding.
  • Experience managing multiple projects/assignments, ability to work with a broad range of administrative, technical, and functional staff, and a broad understanding of University and Health System administration and operations are required.
  • Experience managing a team, ability to effectively communicate, delegate, set priorities and problem solve.
