JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State IT is currently seeking a Salesforce Developer to support the University’s Salesforce Health Cloud initiative. The Salesforce Developer's primary responsibilities will be collaborating with the Salesforce application administrators and other team members to analyze, design, develop, test, debug, install, implement and support the Salesforce platform and associated integrations and/or applications. This role requires a strong knowledge of software development and design; experience working to develop and deploy custom Salesforce applications; creation of business logic and custom interfaces using programmatic capabilities. The Developer will work with stakeholders and users to analyze requirements, determine scope, and participate in project planning efforts; monitor the platform and applications; and work with units to ensure the service is meeting service level agreements (SLA). The Developer will also build and maintain integrations and ensure all University best practices and policies are followed. 

The location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the United States, fully in-person at our University Park Campus, or in a hybrid model of both in-person and remote. Standard working hours are in the eastern time zone.

Primary duties will include:

  • Serving as an application developer for the Salesforce platform

  • Using guidance from business units and/or team members to create and maintain solution design specifications for new functionality and to enhance/fix existing functionality

  • Designing and implementing Salesforce integrations with external applications and systems

  • Working with functional units and technical teams to define and document development requirements while also assisting with training and documentation

 

Skills and Education:

  • Previous Salesforce experience required

  • Ability to interact with business units and coworkers in a positive and proactive manner

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills

  • Experience in higher education preferred

  • Salesforce certifications preferred

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum project management methodologies preferred

This position will be filled at a level 2 or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.

This position will require successful completion of standard background checks.
