ROLE of the POSITION

The Salesforce Developer (SFD) will play a key role within the applications development team, which is responsible for a highly customized salesforce instance. The SFD will work closely with the Digital Strategy and Transformation (DST) leadership team to ensure ideas of the business leaders are brought to reality. The SFD will proactively seek out ways to improve processes and system efficiencies and will work with other key staff members to ensure that team goals are attained. The person in this position will collaborate with internal teams to develop custom solutions to fit business goals across the entire campus. The incumbent will work with clients to translate business rules and functional specifications into requirements, before acting on those requirements to build solutions. This position is a major contributor to department brainstorming and design meetings.

The SFD is expected to:

  • Work with minimal supervision on a small development team that designs, develops, tests, and deploys software/web applications.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of software engineering concepts and be responsible for working on full lifecycle engineering efforts using Agile methodologies, object-oriented design, and accepted best practices.

  • Partner with business representatives to define requirements and develop technical specifications in support of UNLV student, faculty, and staff services.

  • Communicate effectively to ensure that all business requirements are being assessed and addressed to ensure development projects meet or exceed performance targets.

  • Identify and correct software defects through unit, integration, system, and customer acceptance testing.

  • Should be confident and push back, when necessary, on ideas that will compromise the integrity of the data and Salesforce instance.

  • Produce project documentation, including functional and technical designs, and end-user guides.

  • Own support cases that require advanced problem solving for our diverse user base.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, design, and configure the UNLV Salesforce organization to effectively support business processes leveraging Salesforce best practices and alignment with overall sales and service requirements.

  • Build Salesforce applications using Apex and Lightning Component Framework and leverage the full capabilities of the Salesforce platform to support the university's programs.

  • Apply best practices and design patterns of best-of-breed applications developed on the Salesforce.com platform.

  • Develop proofs of concept (POC) as needed, integrating new components with back-office systems during the design and requirements phase to evaluate products and integration strategies.

  • Assist in creating testing and implementation plans, including user training and documentation.

  • Remain current with Salesforce technologies and best practices.

  • Assist in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving defects encountered during different stages of project delivery, including during the deployment and implementation of the solution in production environments.

  • Interact directly with customer, project team, and other stakeholders to ensure customer success.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

The incumbent must have specific skill and knowledge in the following areas:

KNOWLEDGE

Required

  • 2+ years of relevant experience with application and software development (within or outside Salesforce ecosystem)

  • Experience with Salesforce Ecosystem systems and best practices.

  • 2+ years of experience with Apex, and the Lightning Component Framework.

  • Experience developing Lightning Web Components.

  • Experience working with Salesforce APIs and Web Services (REST, SOAP) integrations.

  • Experience with Process Automation, Flow and other declarative Salesforce customization and configuration tools.

  • Experience working using Agile methodologies.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Knowledgeable of all levels of the SDLC and all testing phases

  • Working knowledge of using modern IDEs (VSCode, IntelliJ) and Source Control tools (Git, SVN)

  • Strong understanding of relational databases.

  • Experience working with and writing intermediate to advanced queries in relational databases (SOQL, SQL, Postgres, Oracle, etc)

Preferred

  • Experience with the greater Force.com developer toolkit (Visualforce, Force.com IDE, Workbench, Force.com Migration Tool and Metadata APIs)

  • Working knowledge of Agile Accelerator, Jira, or Confluence to project manage.

  • Experience developing Lightning Components (Aura).

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.  The position is contingent upon funding.
