The Opportunity

Salesforce Business Analyst - Administrator will work with colleagues, end-users and department managers to deliver innovative solutions for business priorities in Cooperative Extension and CALS.

This position will work with constituents to identify business needs and determine solutions using the Salesforce platform.  You will use intermediate to expert knowledge of the Salesforce platform and its capabilities to design, develop, test, and maintain complex programmatic (coded) and declarative solutions for process automation, data management, reporting and data visualization, user experience improvements, and security.

This position provides daily system support and is a critical component of implementation project teams with the following key responsibilities:

  • Business Analysis: Meet with end-users to gather and document detailed requirements, research, design and mock-up solutions to present to stakeholders. Collaborate closely with the IT Project Manager to drive the project forward.
  • System modifications: Create and/or modify custom objects, fields, validation rules, flows, page layouts, views, reports, and dashboards for end-users. Grant and/or remove user licenses and security including profiles, permission sets, public groups, sharing rules, roles and role hierarchy. Customize Salesforce lightning pages, apps, and consoles to provide end-users with an efficient and easy-to-use user interface.
  • End-User Support: Monitor service request queue for new requests. Resolve assigned service requests tickets in a timely manner by researching the request, providing end-user with information and status updates about the request and documenting any change to the system that occurred.
  • Training & Documentation: Create end-user training materials, videos, and quick guides and documentation. Deliver in-person and web-based training to groups or individuals on new and/or existing functionality.
  • Change Management Specialist: Focuses on the people side of change, including changes to business processes, systems, and technology. Work closely with stakeholders to support buy-in and help develop super users.

This role will collaborate with the existing Salesforce support team on the CALS org but the primary project of this role is the implementation of a new Salesforce org for Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE).  The design will be complex with 56 independent offices and counties.  Due to this complexity, role will focus on different business needs and data structures, data cleaning, and intermediate software solutions for counties as we build out the Salesforce infrastructure over time. Role will map business processes and ensure that the Salesforce customized solutions meet the diverse needs and strategic goals of Cornell Cooperative Extension and it’s 56 independent offices.

On-Site Work Requirement:

This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement and requires the candidate to be located in New York state; The employee will be required to attend in person meetings with CCE associations across the state and on-campus activities. Additionally, participation in unit-wide collaboration sessions will be expected at least once annually, possibly spanning a few days. Occasional on-site presence may be necessary for other specific needs, although infrequently. It's important to note that all costs for this mandatory on-site work where travel is outside of 35 miles from your residence will be covered by the employer. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the hybrid or remote work arrangement at any time.

What We Need

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis on information technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years proven professional experience in Salesforce Administration and/or developing Salesforce applications with Apex, Lightning Components, Visualforce, and Lightning Flow.
  • The ideal candidate should have a passion for Cornell Cooperative Extension’s mission, strong work ethic, excellent written and spoken communication skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Professional experience with Salesforce, performing day-to-day administration, support and development with custom objects, layouts, pages, formulas, validation rules, and other aspects of Salesforce business automation.
  • Thorough understanding of Salesforce development best practices, security, and lifecycle.
  • Understanding of concepts of database organization and experience in managing relational databases and writing SQL or Salesforce SOQL queries in a professional environment.
  • Knowledge of web service integration using REST and JSON. Familiarity with building custom Salesforce community sites.
  • Proven track record of communicating clearly to customers and peers at all levels of technical understanding in a positive, customer-service-oriented manner.
  • Possess the ability to exercise good judgment and logic to work independently to anticipate and solve problems that may be urgent, sensitive or confidential in nature.
  • Strong interest in learning and growing on the Salesforce development platform.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience collaborating with various department stakeholders to capture requirements, design and develop solutions utilizing the software development lifecycle and ensure user adoption through user training, and documentation.
  • Experience creating user documentation.
  • Salesforce Administration or Developer certification
  • Experience in Information Technology in a higher-education environment  
  • Experience using VSCode and Salesforce DX as a development environment.  
  • Experience with Salesforce Lightning Web Component (LWC) development.
  • Advanced understanding of Excel as a data manipulation and analysis tool.
