ROLE of the POSITION

Serving as both an advocate for the client and the University, in conjunction with the Assistant Director and Conference & Event Services team, this position exists to support and generate external clientele for Student Union & Event Services' (SUES) services through external sales, marketing, contract negotiation and public relations; and hire, train and provide supervision to student staff as a part of the Student Union & Event Services team. 

Responsibilities regarding revenue generation include, but are not limited to

Assisting with the creation of, and implementing a comprehensive marketing and promotion plan to maximize revenue In conjunction with the rest of the Sales & Event Coordination team, optimizing space utilization in meeting and Conference Housing facilities Providing tours to potential clients and answer questions regarding reservable spaces and services of SUES Represent department in event and conference presentations to campus and community Initiating and negotiating Full Service Contracts for conference and event clients As a part of the Full-Service Contract, negotiate food and beverage needs in partnership with on-campus food service provider Establishing and maintaining lost and new business record keeping Making cold calls, e-mails and other outreach methods to potential or past clientele Support UNLV Coupon Book, Vendor Fair and other outreach efforts Provide for the accurate collection and dissemination of data for SUES staff related to external client events. Serve as department staff member responsible for administering and overseeing social media and web pages Provide training and support for SUES team members about sales and contracting best practices.

This position serves as a primary point of contact for potential and new clients in order to familiarize clients with available facilities and services of the Office of Student Union and Event Services and UNLV campus while cultivating business and revenue for the department.  This position will also be responsible for some event coordination components.  Areas of responsibility for that are as follows, but not limited to:

Initiating and maintaining contact with group sponsors; negotiating and monitoring conference/event contracts, in particular, high profile and multi-service contracts Scheduling and conducting pre-event meetings when necessary Pre-event and on-site event management including coordination efforts between various UNLV service providers, including running stake-holder meetings and major event forecasting reports Provide complete "one stop" event management services at the highest level of customer service including contract initiation. Provide support and details for conference housing groups including rooming information, logistics, campus meals and corresponding event logistics. Provide for billing and financial wrap-up following events.

In addition, this position is responsible for the supervision of the student sales support staff and graphic artists (2-5 students).  Additional responsibilities include monitoring in- and out of state travel, ability to work nights and weekends as needed and making recommendations to the Assistant Director for pricing and scheduling and policy and procedure implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university plus 2 years of related work experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
