Duties & Responsibilities

Job Duties:

•Patrols campus in marked department vehicles. May also patrol campus on foot or bicycle.
•Patrols campus area checking for fires, vandalism, suspicious activity or persons, and safety/fire hazards and reports circumstances to campus police unit for correction or follow-up.
•Responds to emergency calls for service such as minor traffic accidents, medical injuries and emergencies, minor theft reports, fires, and criminal damage.
•Completes police reports on minor incidents that do not involve felony investigations, including stolen property, found property, lost property, and criminal damage.
•Directs traffic at special events and accident scenes.
•Provides assistance to motorists and the public during extraordinary events.
•Locks and unlocks campus buildings.

•Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
•Skill in observing situations and detail oriented.
•Skill in talking to others to convey information effectively.
•Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
•Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
•Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
•Ability to work rotating shifts/days off and work holidays.


Minimum Qualifications •High School Diploma or equivalent learning attained through experience required (GED).
•Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required. Department will consider any relevant volunteer, internship, or
applicable experience as it relates towards the position.
•Successfully pass an in-depth background investigation to include passing a polygraph examination.
•Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims.
