Classification Salary Range: $3,288 - $6,347 per month

Anticipated hiring range: $3,288 - $4,780 per month

 

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

THE DEPARTMENT:

 

The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the University and is responsible for all operational and strategic aspects of the University, including student recruitment, retention, and graduation; academic policies and programs; state and non-state operating budgets; personnel policies and procedures; external outreach, collaboration and fund raising, etc. The Assistant Vice President of Government and External Affairs assists the President in the performance of the President’s duties as they relate to legislative, government, and external affairs.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Safer Return Task Force Administrative Analyst will be responsible for the following:

 

Safer Return Taskforce Coordination:

Supports the university’s pandemic response and planning efforts by assisting with the coordination of all campus activities and relationships with California Department of Public Health, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and the CSU Chancellor’s Office regarding safer return to campus protocols. Analyze State and County COVID-19 guidance and protocols to determine how it applies to the university. Develop and draft reference material that summarizes key points of note and applicable government policies and protocols that can be referenced by Safer Return Task Force members.

Develop and review proposals for on-campus activities to ensure applicable state, local, and CSU policy and protocols are followed. Ensure proposals for on-campus activities are submitted to LA County Department Public Health (if applicable) on time. Coordinate scheduling for Safer Return Task Force meetings, ad hoc campus repopulation meetings, and meetings with key government and community stakeholders. Analyze state-wide and county-wide COVID-19 data that will be featured in weekly Safer Return updates and presentations. Learn, interpret, and apply a variety of campus policies and procedures as it applies to Safer Return priorities and campus repopulation efforts. Will assist in compiling, writing, and presenting State and LA County COVID-19 protocol updates during Safer Return Task Force meetings. Assists with the coordination of meetings, visits to campus from public health and/or elected officials and their staff from the university’s service area, as well as those who visit from other areas. Assists with developing tour sites, preparing briefing materials, and preparing follow-up materials. Assists in preparing reports, correspondence, and briefing materials relating to the university’s health and safety protocols. Assists with the facilitation of relationships with public health officials from the California Department of Public Health and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, including local public health officials from surrounding cities. Attends public health forums hosted by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, California Department of Public Health, and local city public health forums.

 

Administrative Operations Coordination:

Assists with the coordination of communication and messaging; edit and proofread materials to ensure the accuracy of content and grammar as well as proper formats are utilized. Develop presentations and print materials for public health and legislative meetings, internal and external briefings, and community outreach efforts. Assists the Government and External Affairs Analyst with tracking budget expenditures as it relates to the university’s pandemic response and planning efforts by ensuring that the appropriate interpretation and implementation of CPP and CSU budgetary policies and procedures are followed.

Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned related to the university’s pandemic response and planning efforts.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor's degree AND/OR the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty; basic knowledge of and ability to apply fundamental concepts; working knowledge of budget policies and procedures; ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit, and/or administrative specialty; knowledge of basic methods and procedures for research and statistical analysis and the ability to apply them. Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques; ability to organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities; ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment; ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty; demonstrated ability establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

A Master of Public Health, Public Policy, or related degree AND/OR three years of progressively responsible analytical experience for government or legislative entity, public health, higher education, or similarly demanding setting, including experience performing work involving the preparation, justification, and analysis or the control of administrative functions. Expertise in CSU government and legislative affairs, with a strong understanding and ability to interpret policies, procedures and principled; demonstrated experience with public higher education or other public entities. Knowledge of federal, state, and local government bodies and working structures. Ability to speak and write effectively and clearly. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
