SUMMER LANGUAGE WORKSHOP (BL-SWKS-IUBLA)

The Hamilton Lugar School's Language Workshop offers intensive in-person, online, and overseas programs that help students make rapid and lasting progress through work with instructors from some of the best and most innovative language training programs in the world. Students will also go beyond the classroom to engage with language and culture through a range of activities.

The Russian Training Specialist will work with the special-purpose language team to develop and deliver Russian courses in a range of formats (online synchronous, online asynchronous, in-person, immersion, accelerated) on a range of schedules at all proficiency levels. This position specializes in non-traditional courses, responding to the varying needs of Indiana's government, corporate, and private partners.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides training in Russian for speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills 
  • Provides training at the Novice through the Superior levels 
  • Provides in-person and online training
  • Provides accelerated, intensive training as required 
  • Develops plans and materials as required to support training
  • Participates in development of new curricula

General Responsibilities

  • Analyzes training needs to design and implement training programs; develops training materials and maintains assessment information for training resources.
  • Develops and delivers training presentations and updates training materials and resources regularly to address common problems/issues and educate on new information in area of expertise.
  • Collaborates with staff and departments to identify ongoing training, communication, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Analyzes course evaluations in order to judge effectiveness of training sessions and to implement suggestions for improvements.
  • Ensures adherence to accessibility standards and/or universal design principals in presentations and documentation.
  • Researches and stays current on education and training best practices, philosophies, and approaches.
  • Keeps department informed of trending and novel topics in field of expertise.
  • May act as lead for other training staff.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

Preferred

  • Maters degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years of educating/teaching/training or related experience

Preferred

  • 2 years experience teaching Russian at the secondary level
  • Native or Superior proficiency in Russian and English

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This is a 1 year position with the possibility of a 1 or 2 year extension based on need and funding.
