Under direct supervision, acquires skills and knowledge of professional concepts in research data analysis. Works on small projects or segments of projects with limited scope and complexity.

Using theoretical knowledge of microbiology and/or mathematical biology, and under direct supervision, the incumbent will assist lab researchers in computational modeling work related to microbiology and microfluidic experiments run at the Institute.

Assist in collecting, formatting, cataloging, and analyzing raw experimental data. Assist in running computational simulations for various ongoing projects in the lab.

Other duties include assisting lab scientists in experimental data analysis using computational tools and preparation of graphics, tables, and reports for presentations and meetings.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Theoretical knowledge of molecular biology or related field or equivalent knowledge and experience to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Ability to work with and write custom scripts for modeling and data processing software such as MATLAB.

  • Working knowledge of computer languages such as C/C++ and Python.

  • Ability to work with image-processing software such as ImageJ.

  • Acquiring knowledge of research function. Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties. Experience preparing graphics, tables, and reports.

    • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

    • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.


    Pay Transparency Act

    Annual Full Pay Range: $61,800 - $108,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

    Hourly Equivalent: $29.60 - $51.72

    Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
