Summer Research Internships at The Roux Institute
The Roux Institute Summer Research Internship Program is a 10-week full-time internship for graduate and undergraduate learners on-site at the Roux Institute campus of Northeastern University in Portland, ME.

Research Intern - Reverse Osmosis Test Rig Development
We are seeking an undergraduate student majoring in mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering to join our team as a Research Intern. In this role, you will be involved in the development of a test rig for monitoring in-situ changes in reverse osmosis (RO) membranes. This project aims to understand the life and durability of RO membranes in order to optimize the performance of desalination and wastewater treatment systems.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in finalizing the design of the test apparatus for monitoring RO membranes
- Procure necessary components for the test rig
- Assemble and commission the test apparatus
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure successful implementation of the project
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering (undergraduate level)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a diverse team
