Position Description:
The Kuo Lab at the University of Maryland-College Park (UMD) is hiring a postdoctoral researcher to lead an NIH-funded project focused on elucidating the role of tissue resident vs. monocyte-derived macrophages in the development and persistence of tendinopathy in a mouse model.
The lab aims to develop adult and fetal tendon therapeutics and regenerative medicine approaches based on mechanisms of embryonic development and scarless healing. Current projects in the lab span multiple research areas, including regenerative medicine, developmental biology, mechanobiology, stem cell biology, immunology, biomaterials, tissue engineering, and wound healing.
Compensation is based on NIH guidelines and includes a competitive benefits and retirement package offered by UMD. Flexibility to pursue research in personal areas of interest, apply for grants and fellowships, and build scientific management expertise will be encouraged.
Candidates will have an opportunity to collaborate with bioengineers, biologists, and clinicians at UMD and other area institutions. UMD is near top government research and funding agencies (e.g. NIH, FDA, DoD, NSF, NIST) in the greater Washington DC region, providing unique opportunities for research, funding, and networking.
