  • JOB DUTIES

Description

As an RN Supervisor, you will provide direct nursing care, clinical administration, patient flow coordination, and supervision of clinic nursing staff at the Children’s Health Center. The clinic is focused on the pediatric population’s primary and specialty needs; some specialties may also see adult patients. You will provide a high level of expertise to the complex and acute subspecialty patient population and work directly with subspecialty providers on implementation of new treatment modalities within the outpatient clinic. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Delegate and supervise completion of appropriate tasks to clinical nurses, LVNs, and MA personnel * Coordinate clinical staff schedules, review timesheets, and provide evaluation and discipline * Train staff members and ensure completion of competencies * Responsible for ordering clinic supplies and medications * Perform patient assessment and care to pediatric and adult patients * Assist in the transfer and decision making process for transfer to a higher level of care * Calculate and administer drugs, maintain PICC lines and portable infusion pumps, access venous ports and catheters and hemodialysis shunts for blood draws and venous therapy * Oversight and quality control of immunizations * Work with Pediatrics Clinical Chiefs and CHC Medical Director to implement various in-clinic projects Salary Range: $123,700- $174,000 Annually



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Required: * Current California RN license * Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing * Three years of acute care, urgent care or ambulatory clinic pediatric experience * Minimum of one year supervisory experience * Possession of current BCLS and/or PALS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross * Knowledge of the Pediatric and Adult patient population and practice operations * Knowledge of all aspects, procedures and medication administration in an urgent care or ambulatory setting * Ability to assume direct involvement and provide backup support during clinic emergencies and in patient related problem solving * Ability to organize, prioritize and follow through for multiple patient treatments * Phlebotomy and IV skills * Skill in performing with frequent interruptions and/or distractions including the ability to accept equivocal circumstances and respond and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines * Ability to utilize appropriate interpersonal skills in all interactions * Ability to accept direction and promptly follow through on other duties as assigned with minimal supervision * Experience and knowledge to accurately screen and triage acute patients * Knowledge and experience to recognize abnormal laboratory values and respond * Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, peers, physicians and administrators * Skill in listening perceptively, conveying awareness and responding to patients and visitors with health concerns using tact and discretion * Ability to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with patients, their families, and general public in a high volume, clinical setting * Ability to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference and hostility * Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with sensitive and confidential information using discretion and judgment * Working knowledge of computer systems for use in analytical and operational tasks (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc) Preferred: * Possession of PICC line certification * Knowledge and skill in central line catheter management and access * Skill in usage of medical diagnostic equipment, as well as working knowledge of instruments and supplies required to perform necessary blood tests and procedures * Working knowledge of the UCLA registration system, appointment scheduling system and order entry system * Proficient in Point of Care testing
