RN Staff Nurse I (PRN) - Occupational Health Events

Position Summary
The primary purpose of the Immunization Nurse is to administer vaccines during immunization clinics in a safe and effective manner consistent with all applicable policies, procedures, and legal requirements. This is a PRN position. Immunization events will primarily be held on the Washington University in St. Louis campuses for Washington University faculty, staff, contractors, trainees, and students.
Immunization events generally occur within 0800-1600 M-F, however, events may occur before or after the stated timeframe.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Possess knowledgeable understanding of current vaccine information, health care concepts, and all regulations relative to immunization delivery.
  • Ensure all necessary vaccines and supplies are available for each vaccination clinic and maintain proper storage of vaccines and supplies.
  • Document immunization data in employee’s electronic medical record.
  • Counsel patients and provide appropriate Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) during each clinic.
  • Travel as required to attend clinics at various locations.
  • Any and all duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Immunization administration experience.
  • Ability to use a computer to document vaccination in EMR.
  • Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling all obligations.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to maintain organization and prioritize.
  • Exhibit initiative, professionalism, and reliability.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate good nursing judgement and excellent observation skills.
  • Ability to provide good written documentation in a timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of general nursing theory and practice with the ability to recognize and interpret symptoms/conditions.
  • Ability to function in new and emergent situations.


Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:  Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois depending on location in accordance with Compact Act. Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Salary Range
$25.96 - $44.39 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
