Job Description:

This vital role in the Score 1 for Health program, coordinates and maintains patient flow through the pediatric screening process; supervises and oversees health screenings conducted by medical and allied health students; assists in the advancement of the Score 1 for Health Program; and ensures adherence to all regulatory governance, universal precautions, and/or applicable protocols.
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week with flexibility in hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and maintains patient flow through the pediatric screening process
  • Conducts health screenings and delivers screening results
  • Supervises and oversees health screenings conducted by medical and allied heath students
  • Serves as educator and mentor to students

  • Assists in the advancement of the Score 1 for Health Program

  • Serves as liaison between participating parties
  • Educates patients/parents/guardians and school personnel on various topics
  • Ensures adherence to all regulatory governance, universal precautions, and/or standard protocols
  • Makes certain safety protocols are followed and with federal regulations
  • Represents the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing
  • Current registered nursing license in Missouri and/or Kansas
  • One year experience as a nurse in a pediatric and/or community health clinical environment
  • Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.
  • Must be knowledgeable and skillful in pediatric (age-appropriate) health promotion, guidance, and primary care skills
  • Excellent communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills required.
  • Critical thinking skills essential
  • Demonstrated ability to decipher and interpret information and able to respond/react effectively and appropriately
  • Able to adapt to different educational levels when interacting with a variety of individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally and appropriately with patients, parents, and school administrators
  • Must be able to function as a team leader (for medical students) to effectively oversee screenings [instructions, training, charting, etc.]
  • Must have excellent customer relations skills for decision making and problem solving
  • Respectful of others, uses effective judgment, practices confidentiality, and exercises discretion appropriate.
