Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center is the region's first academic-based facility to combine all heart and vascular-related services, programs and technology under one roof. The new technologies, techniques and treatments we develop at UC San Diego Health are setting new standards in vascular and cardiac care - for our patients, and for the world.

The Registered Nurse provides direct care to critical care patients using the nursing process in the clinic setting. Develops and provides treatment plans as requested. Promotes self-care through education. Organizes and maintains clinic equipment and supplies. This unit provides care to a vast array of cardiology patients. Including but not limited to; Coronary Angioplasty, Pacemaker, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Vascular Revascularization and Balloon Pulmonary Artery Angioplasy.

These units utilize advanced training and skills to take care of high acuity, complex patients. 24 hour physician coverage on this unit. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 or 1:4.

While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended when applying to this position.

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN license issued by the State of California.

  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Recent 2 years of Acute Care RN experience in Progressive care or Intensive Care Unit caring for cardiology patients. Including but not limited to; Coronary Angioplasty, Pacemaker, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Vascular Revascularization and Balloon Pulmonary Artery Angioplasty. CardioMems device.

  • Must be a team player and have good communication skills.

  • BSN.
  • IMU experience.
  • PCCN, CSC, and CMC certifications.
  • Experience with cardiopulmonary and cardiac care.
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
