Summary of Job Duties:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) Interventional Psychiatric Services is responsible for a broad range of activities that are critical to the functioning of the services. The RN will consistently provide effective direct care to a variety of patients, work as part of the interdisciplinary team, based on licensure, title, and competencies. The RN seeks, as well as provides, feedback for improved clinical practice. The RN integrates theory and research into clinical practice. PRI Interventional Services includes ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy), Esketamine Administration, and IV Ketamine Infusions. The RN works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Services Manager (CSM).
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Associate’s degree in Nursing, Diploma RN, or Master’s degree in Nursing.
Must be a graduate of an accredited RN nursing program.
Minimum of 1 year of Registered Nursing experience;
Valid Registered Nursing License
Basic computer skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong work ethics and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current BLS
ACLS certification (or obtain certification within one year of starting in this role)
Additional Information:
Employee must successfully complete a UAMS-sponsored conflict management training to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives within six months of hire.
Responsibilities:
Collects and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard. Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data.
Evaluates the progress of patients toward attainment of desired outcomes.
Administers medication following department/unit standards and Nurse Practice Act.
Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family centered care principles, practice standards and regulatory requirements. Supports the integration of current evidence into nursing practices.
Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff.
Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders.
Communicates care appropriately through documentation in the medical record.
Reports variances in care/ systems/ processes through the appropriate means. Participates in recruitment/retention of staff.
Facilitates development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.
May perform other duties as assigned.
