Salary:  $30.00 per hour

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse supports inpatient and outpatient research projects for the USF Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology through all aspects of research; which includes protocol review/application, IRB review and compliance, study procedures (implementing and overseeing the screening and enrollment of clients, collection / management of patient and/or laboratory data, maintenance of regulatory and study documents, and study closure). This position additionally develops databases, oversees clinical data gathering, establish quality control standards, develop educational materials, and serve as liaisons with regulatory agencies and compiles reports for regulatory compliance.

DUTIES:

  • Active Research Study Specific Procedures:  Evaluating / screening potential research participants, consenting, enrolling, and randomization.  When applicable, performing study procedures in NICU (i.e.: venipuncture, drug administration, blood testing).  Oversees the ordering, dispensing and maintenance of supplies and medications for the research study. Coordinates and schedules study visits and follow-ups.
  • IRB and Research Regulatory Compliance; Study submissions, modifications, continuing reviews and adverse event monitoring and reporting.  Communication of any changes, issues, or adverse events with Primary Investigator. Meeting with the study team to review procedures and data for safety. Ensures consistent interpretation and adherence to protocols at all stages of trials by study team members.  Recommends changes in protocols to improve quality of data gathering or overall study.  Works with the local and central IRBs
  • Evaluation and Initiation of new research studies:  Working with PI on study selection and review, study initiation visits, site selection process, assisting with contract / budget setup.  Once contract / budget completed, working directly with the PI for study setup and initiation of study.   Assists in developing proposals for new research projects.  Coordinates studies with other departments required for the study (i.e.:  NICU, Mother/baby units, MRI, laboratory, ultrasound, TGH research pharmacy, USF follow up clinic, USF OB department, USF College of Nursing, USF College of Engineering).
  • Data and specimens:  Data / specimen collection on each study participant according to the research protocol.  Records data on each study participant for each visit according to research protocol, maintaining complete study progress notes and case report form for each visit.  Submissions of data to the sponsor per the study protocol for case report form submissions.  Maintaining and sending specimens according to study protocol.  Database development and maintenance for USF initiated studies.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

  • This position requires licensure as a registered nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, or eligibility to practice nursing in accordance with Chapter 64 B9, Florida Administrative Code.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in NICU or Newborn.
  • Experience in research.
  • BSN degree
