Description

 JOB SUMMARY: Possesses knowledge and skill necessary to meet standards for professional practice specified in Texas Nurse Practice Act. Practice is characterized by a balance of dependent and interdependent decision-making. Competently functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Recognizes when she/he needs assistance and seeks appropriate resources. ESSENTIAL DUTES: •Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the daily care of assigned patients. Identifies nursing diagnosis/patient care needs, individualizes care plan, and revises plan of care as needed. •Executes provider's orders for all assigned patients; •Administers medications and treatments and delivers population specific competent nursing care. Performs and reports Point of Care testing. •Provides basic patient/family instruction and healthcare teaching. •Promotes positive guest and patient relations. •Required to maintain competency in the patient safety functions related to their position. Completion of Annual Mandatory Training, TB testing and required licensure and certifications before expiration date. •Other duties as assigned remaining flexible to changing needs. •Rotating on-call PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent walking, sitting, lifting, bending, and turning. Must be able to lift in excess of 10 pounds. Ability to push, pull stretchers/wheelchairs, etc. Assist patient in rising, walking, sitting, etc. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Position requires frequent travel between normal locations and other locations on campus. May be exposed to inclement weather conditions. May be exposed to irate employees, visitors, and/or vendors. Potential exposure to patients with agitation and aggression. Standard hospital/operating room environment May be required to work days, evenings, or nights. May be required to be on standby and work extended shifts in situations deemed necessary by the Chief Nursing Officer or designee.

Qualifications

 ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Bilingual a plus. EMR experience Knowledge of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment. REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Graduate of accredited RN School of Nursing BSN preferred RN with 2 years clinical experience in Surgical Services or Same Day Services. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Maintain a current RN license to practice in the state of Texas. Maintain current CPR certification. Current ACLS and PALS preferred at hire
