Dicke Fellow

The Princeton University Physics Department seeks exceptional Ph.D. recipients in experimental physics for an honorific postdoctoral fellowship program. Candidates from all areas of experimental physics will be considered and selected through an annual competition. Applications will be reviewed as they arrive. To ensure full consideration, all materials must be received by October 20, 2023. The selected scholars are expected to work with the existing experimental groups in the department, although those who wish to pursue a specific independent research program will also be considered.

Princeton has experimental research programs in Atomic Physics, Biophysics, Condensed Matter Physics, Cosmology & Gravitation, High Energy Physics, and Particle Astrophysics. In their application, applicants are encouraged to discuss potential research group or groups that they would be interested in working with. This year the Physics Department will select at least two postdoctoral research scholars. Appointments, to be made at the rank of Associate Research Scholar, will be annual with the expectation of renewal for two additional years subject to satisfactory performance. The scholars will be "Dicke Fellows" in recognition of Princeton physicist Robert Dicke. In addition to salary and benefits, the program will provide a discretionary fund of at least $9,000 per year for each scholar.

Candidates must submit a CV, list of publications, a statement of research interests, the contact information for three referees, and a diversity statement explaining how they will contribute to diversity and/or help to foster a climate of inclusion within the department. Finalists will be invited to give a research talk, either at Princeton or remotely if travel to Princeton is not feasible. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. Proof of Ph.D. must be submitted prior to start date. Candidates who are not selected for a Dicke position may also be considered for other postdoctoral positions in the Department. We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and thus seek to recruit candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
