Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management (HRSM) invites applications for a non-tenure track 9-month faculty position at the Instructor level. The School of HRTM is seeking a highly motivated front-of-house Restaurant Management professional to teach undergraduate courses related to restaurant and food production management (HRTM 370). The Restaurant Management Instructor is expected to have a passion for the restaurant industry, strong front-of-house management skills, knowledge of beverage service, diverse service styles, and high commitment to customer service. In addition, some knowledge is expected in terms of hot/cold food preparation and culinary art.

Required Education and Experience

Earned master’s degree and two (2) years experience as front-of-house management professional in a full service restaurant/foodservice environment. A proven record of teaching/training others and event coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

Earned master’s degree in Hospitality Management or Earned master’s degree in related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Hospitality or Management. Five (5) years experience as front-of-house management professional in a full-service restaurant/foodservice environment. A proven record of teaching/training others and event coordination. Experience teaching in Higher Education, and working knowledge of basic culinary skills and practices. Experience with budget/finance, food costing, and menu development.
