Position Summary
Supports the research and information needs of the Gannon community by obtaining resources not held by Nash Library through interlibrary loan, open access resources, or document delivery services. Also performs public service functions at the library’s service desk and participates in the hiring, training, and supervising of the library’s student employees.
ACCESS SERVICES RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide exemplary customer service at the Nash Library Service Desk, assisting users with utilizing library services and resources, referring to other staff or offices as appropriate.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and supervising student employees.
  • Create and maintain student work schedule to ensure adequate Service Desk coverage.
  • Update and maintain the Faculty Reserves.
  • Run user hold requests and overdue notices.

RESOURCE SHARING RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accurately and efficiently process outgoing and incoming interlibrary loan requests from patrons and external resource sharing partners.
  • Apply multiple search techniques across a variety of databases to resolve complex interlibrary loan requests.
  • Scan print materials using overhead book scanners and edit image files for electronic delivery.
  • Prepare and packages materials for domestic and international shipping via courier, UPS, USPS, etc.; receive borrowed and returned materials and route as appropriate.
  • Understand and apply internal policies, and other relevant local, regional, and national interlibrary loan guidelines and agreements.
  • Troubleshoot minor system errors and patron issues.
  • Work closely with the Systems Librarian to Assist to create and maintain workflow and procedure documentation and to identify workflow improvements.
  • Maintain statistical data and prepare periodic reports.

Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree; customer service experience; good organization and communication skills; attention to detail; general knowledge of library operations; knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree; library experience; supervisory experience.

Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a normal office environment.
