Position Summary | American Indian Student Services (AISS) is seeking candidates for Residential Advisors for the 2024 American Indian Summer Bridge (AISB) Program. The AISB Program is designed to immerse incoming American Indian/Indigenous students into the rigors of college life while providing academic, financial, and social preparation for the first-year university experience. AISB will consist of a one-week immersion session allowing participating students to earn up to 3 college credit hours while strengthening time management and study skills. Residential Advisors will support incoming first-year American Indian/Indigenous students’ successful transition into college. The successful candidates will serve as mentors and provide supervision for the duration of the program. Under the guidance of the AISB Program Coordinator, the Residential Advisors have primary responsibility for providing tutoring support services; living on campus with AISB participants; planning and supervising all activities (including evenings and weekends); transporting students to all scheduled events; conducting small group discussions on a variety of topics relevant to college life; and other duties as assigned. Residential Advisors receive extensive training prior to the start of the session – in-person attendance is mandatory and non-negotiable. Residential Advisors are expected to demonstrate high levels of responsibility, project an attitude of commitment and sensitivity to each individual student, and demonstrate an awareness of how diversity intersects with respect to cultural, racial, gender, and ethnic backgrounds. Must be able to differentiate learning styles and work effectively with AISB students and faculty, and AISB & AISS staff. The term of employment is July 15, 2024 to August 3, 2024. Residential Advisors will work an average of 35-40 hours per week. Working benefits
include weekday meals and on-campus housing for each one-week session. |
