Resident Advisers are responsible for assisting the Headington Hall Administration in developing, coordinating, and maintaining a positive intellectual, emotional, and social living environment for students.
Student Staff members are selected on the basis of: sensitivity to and interest in people, objectivity and respect for the worth and dignity of the individual, open mindedness on issues that may arise, degree of empathy, the ability to handle autonomy and make decisions; sensitivity to privileged information; and his/her success within the academic community. Resident Advisers are role models. The main responsibility of Resident Adviser is to provide support, encouragement and leadership to his/her community. S/he should be available to his/her residents / community and empower them to grow and develop as good citizens. Student Staff help to establish a positive living/learning environment. Student Staff members are also required to live in the community for which he/she is responsible.
Resident Advisers must be aware of each resident's individual academic achievement through on-going contact, knows who may have academic/career difficulty, and has knowledge of available resources for academic assistance.
Resident Advisers are responsible for the social development of residents within their individual floors as well as throughout the community. They will also be responsible for hall programming that will fulfill the four pillars of the university experience: Social, Academic, Volunteerism, and Diversity.
Advisers will encourage students to take personal responsibility for establishing and implementing a community that is conducive to academic achievement (quiet hours, acceptance of members, visitation regulations, etc.) and takes appropriate action when needed.
Student Staff members are also required to live in the community for which he/she is responsible; work collaboratively with Faculty-in-Residence and other academic resources; follows NCAA Compliance guidelines regarding student athletes; and comply with University's Academic Integrity Policies.
Required Education: Must be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
Must attach SUMMER/FALL oZONE class schedule.
- Must have and maintain a 2.7 GPA.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holiday
- Must have lived on campus at least two semesters
- Must be enrolled or have passed a RA class
