Residency Coordinator for Graduate Medical Education - Surgery

Creighton University is seeking to hire a Program Coordinator to support our Surgery Residency Graduate Medical Education (GME) program. The GME Program Coordinator is a member of the leadership team and is critical to the success of the program.

 

GME Program Coordinators are expected to develop unique knowledge of the ACGME Core and Program Requirements, policies, and procedures.  Assist in accreditation efforts, educational programming, and support of residents/fellows.  Responsible for recruiting and on-boarding trainees, developing projects, managing program financials, maintaining databases, communicating with faculty and trainees, and managing internal and external program relations.  Assist with Annual Program Evaluations, Program Evaluation and Clinical Competency Committee, ACGME site visits, Annual Program Review, ACGME Milestone reporting and Self Studies.

 

Job Functions:

  • Program Accreditation: Submits reports, respond to surveys, manage scheduled visits, oversight of program committees.
  • Recruitment/Commencement: Application review, selection process, interview coordination, onboarding/offboarding.
  • Resident/Fellow Scheduling: Rotation/call schedule, track work hours, and procedure logs.
  • Curriculum Development: Education, orientation, evaluations, and documenting core competencies. Functions as department liaison between the residents/fellows, Program Director, faculty, GME Office, participating sites, other internal departments, and outside agencies.
  • Meetings: Active participant applying knowledge to give input on agenda, provides background information and is an integral part of the discussion.
  • Finance Responsibilities: Review, approve, make recommendations for program budgets and funding.
  • Policies & Procedures: Participate in the development of, and expert on interpretation.
  • HR Functions: Submits personnel info, Advancing, Completion, LOAs, VISA, etc. Program Communication, Educational, Wellness, and Social Events.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or comparable experience required. Bachelors' Degree preferred in Leadership Management or Education.
  • 2 + years of related administrative experience.
  • Must possess skills in leadership and personnel management.
  • Previous Graduate Medical Education experience a plus.
  • TAGME certification preferred but not required.
