The Opportunity:
The Coordinator of Residence Life and Education is a live-in, full-time professional staff member for the Department of Housing and Residence Life withing Student Success and Well-Being (SSWB) . The Coordinator of Residence Life & Education responsible for the daily operations of a residential community, including: student staff supervision, community development, building management, student outreach and support, crisis response, and coordination of administrative processes.
This is an auxiliary (AUX) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
Responsibilities:
Supervise, train, and evaluate graduate and undergraduate student staff through weekly staff meetings, regular one-on-one supervision meetings, as well as performance management and formal accountability processes.
Provide support and appropriate referrals to students regarding their academic, social, and personal wellbeing. Provide expedited outreach and follow-up for students of concern, and mediate interpersonal conflicts as needed.
Design and implement residential engagement initiatives to support student success, well-being, and belonging in accordance with departmental outcomes.
Advise an area council of student leaders in the development of community-building and residential advocacy initiatives.
Serve as a conduct hearing officer/administrator for assigned community, campus security authority, and responsible employee for reporting purposes.
Coordinate opening and closing operations for assigned residential community at designated times of year.
Manage day-to-day maintenance and facility issues with appropriate maintenance, facilities, and custodial staff, execute regular key/access audits, and conduct appropriate follow-up on community-specific facilities issues.
Manage and reconcile spending of community budget.
Actively contribute to departmental collaterals, committees, task forces, and work groups as directed.
Attend departmental meetings and departmental ongoing training and development opportunities.
Maintain visibility and presence within the assigned community, serving as a positive role model for staff and students.
Serve in departmental on-call rotation and coordinate response to crisis. Provide on-scene, after-hours on-campus response.
Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by Department of Housing & Residence Life personnel.
Maintain full-time residency in a University housing-owned or housing-affiliated/managed facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree earned by start date.
Prior Housing & Residence Life experience at the graduate or professional level.
Supervision and/or co-supervision experience.
Previous experience advising or co-advising student leadership organizations.
Experience with StarRez, Maxient, and/or eRezLife databases.
On-call/crisis response experience.
Conduct/hearing officer experience.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
Must be available for irregular hours, extended workdays, on-call emergencies, and weekends. Additionally, this position is designated as critical personnel in case of a disaster or critical event and will be required to remain on campus to assist with emergency situations.
