General Description
The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is a full-time, 12 month, live-in professional staff member of the Housing and Residence Life office at the University of Montevallo. The purpose of this position is to assist the Director in the overall administration and management of the Housing and Residence Life program. The primary function is to coordinate and facilitate the room assignment process, including training Housing staff and responding to issues related to room assignments.
Onsite residential lodging will be required for this position. Lodging will be included in the compensation at an estimated value of $6,000/annually.
Essential Job Duties
1. The RLC will be on-call for the Housing department and must maintain communication with the Director of Housing and Residence Life on a 24/7 days a week basis through cell phone. RLC will also serve as a primary on-campus contact for the Student Affairs emergency on-call duty rotation staff member.
2. The RLC will also serve as Residence Hall Director (RHD) for one of the residence halls on campus.
3. Responsible for all aspects of the housing assignment process to included room sign-up, new student assignment and notification, reassignment of returning students, refund requests, room change, private room assignment, consolidation, record maintenance such as applications, room change requests, etc.
4. Responsible for the training of all the Housing staff in the Adirondack “The Housing Director” room assignment software.
5. Receive new applications, enters information into the database on computers, and create records for new students.
6. Serve as liaison with Disability Support Services (DSS) regarding special accommodations for room assignments.
7. Assist in the safety management of the residence halls, including coordination of monthly room inspections, planned fire drills, etc.
8. Assist in the supervision and evaluation of the Resident Assistants (RAs) and Residence Hall Directors (RHDs).
9. Assist in the coordination and management of the housing facilities.
10. Actively participate in the recruitment of students for the residence hall system, including providing tours of the residence halls.
11. Assist in the development of marketing materials, forms and reports concerning the Housing and Residence Life program.
12. Assist with the orientation of freshmen and transfer students.
13. Attend university recruitment events to discuss the advantages for living on campus, including those scheduled on a Saturday or after hours.
14. Attend weekly staff meetings as scheduled by the Director and assist in the coordination monthly all-staff meetings.
15. Serve as liaison with other offices and departments on technical/facilities issues.
16. Perform other duties or special projects, which may be assigned by a supervisor.

Proficiency working with Housing assignment software and Maxient Judicial software preferred;
Must be able to work minimum 32 hours in the Housing office between 8 am – 5 pm, Monday-Friday;
Must be available to respond to on-campus emergencies as needed ;
Must be able to attend scheduled campus events on nights and weekends.

The educational requirement for this position is: Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education or closely related field.
