General Description
The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is a full-time, 12 month, live-in professional staff member of the Housing and Residence Life office at the University of Montevallo. The purpose of this position is to assist the Director in the overall administration and management of the Housing and Residence Life program and assist in the management of the residence life component of the Housing and Residence Life department.
Onsite residential lodging will be required for this position. Lodging will be included in the compensation at an estimated value of $6,000 annually.
Essential Job Duties
1. The RLC will be on-call for the Housing department and must maintain communication with the Director of Housing and Residence Life on a 24/7 days a week basis through cell phone. RLC will also serve as a primary on-campus contact for the Student Affairs emergency on-call duty rotation staff member.
2. The RLC will also serve as Residence Hall Director (RHD) for one of the residence halls on campus.
3. Coordinate the disciplinary process regarding resident policies and procedures for behavioral violations.
4. Assist in the safety management of the residence halls including coordination of monthly room inspections, planned fire drills, fire extinguisher checks, etc.
5. Coordinate recruitment, selection and training of all housing staff members.
6. Assist in the supervision and evaluation of the Resident Assistants (RAs) and Residence Hall Directors (RHDs).
7. Coordinate programming and activities in all the residence halls with the Resident Assistants (RAs) and Residence Hall Directors (RHDs). RLC should attend all campus wide programs sponsored by Housing and Residence Life and any co-sponsored university wide events. RLC should make an effort to attend programs planned by the RAs and RHDs during each semester. RLC should also attend certain University-sponsored programs.
8. Assist with the Housing Assignment process, especially with the completion of room changes for Room Consolidation.
9. Assist in the coordination and management of the housing facilities.
10. Actively participate in the recruitment of students for the residence hall system including providing tours of the residence halls.
11. Serve as the Advisor to the Residence Hall Association (RHA).
12. Assist in the development of marketing materials, forms and reports concerning the Housing and Residence Life program.
13. Assist with orientation of freshmen and transfer students.
14. Attend university recruitment events to discuss advantages for living on campus, including those scheduled on a Saturday or after hours.
15. Attend weekly staff meetings as scheduled by the Director and coordinate monthly all-staff meetings.
16. Serve as liaison with other offices and departments on technical/facilities issues.
17. Perform other duties or special projects, which may be assigned by a supervisor.

The educational requirement for this position is: Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education or closely related field.
