The Ohio State University, College of Engineering, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering is seeking a Researcher (Researcher 3). This will be a Senior level Researcher role within the College. This is a Specialized Track role where the work will be  achieved through individual efforts as well as participation through project teams. The work done in this role may coordinate, review or influence the work of others within the Department.

Researcher should be fully experienced within the Research Laboratory environment. Researcher will serve as a resource for Research Technicians, Graduate Research Associates, Undergraduate Research Assistants and Undergraduate Students. Researcher will apply their research knowledge and a thorough understanding of the Research being performed to lead research and work independently. Researcher will work on complex research projects of large scope within the Department. Researcher will be able to complete routine work independently; while only requiring general guidance on new research initiatives and projects.

Specific Research Areas that the Researcher will be involved in will include novel hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers for a variety of applications in transfusion medicine and tissue engineering as oxygen therapeutics. Additional research and development will be conducted to develop therapeutics for the detoxification of hemoglobin/heme/iron, non-heme based plasma substitutes, and monocyte/macrophage targeted drug delivery systems.

The Researcher will be directly involved in conducting the above research as well as serving as a resource for Post Doctoral Scholars, Graduate Research Associates as well as Undergraduate Research Assistants that assist with the research efforts relating to  novel hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers for a variety of applications in transfusion medicine and tissue engineering as oxygen therapeutics; therapeutics for the detoxification of hemoglobin/heme/iron, non-heme based plasma substitutes; and monocyte/macrophage targeted drug delivery systems.


Required Education:

  • Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or equivalent

Desired Education:
  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or equivalent

Required Experience:
  • At least 5-6 years of experience conducting research in the field of Chemical Engineering or a related field such as Biochemistry, etc.

Desired Experience:
  • At least 6-8 years of experience conducting research on protein biochemistry and nano-engineering based therapeutic development.
