Researcher to serve as Laboratory Manager overseeing and managing daily operations and activities of research laboratory within Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research; collaborates with principal investigator (PI) to plan, design, implement and manage multiple research projects in the area of neuroimmunology on human and/or animal studies; conducts complex and advanced experiments functioning as a specialist in cytokine production and detection focusing on the cellular immune response to 'in vivo' and 'in vitro' stimuli; performs complex molecular, immunological, biological and biochemical research specializing and providing technical expertise in ELISA development and cytokine/cellular interaction; analyzes and interprets lymphocyte phenotype determinations; provides consultation and training to PI's, students and research staff in ELISA development and cytokine/cellular interaction; extracts, analyzes, interprets and evaluates experimental data; develops and implements new and/or revised research methods; assists principal investigators in research and development efforts of new research projects; develops and tests new hypotheses; develops and establishes criteria and research standards to meet the goals of research projects; plans and writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research reports for publication in scientific journals; provides critical analysis of research literature to determine new and/or revised trends or methods in research; actively contributes to developing, writing, editing and critiquing all research grant proposals; participates in the development of new grant budgets; participates in establishing and maintaining working relationships with potential sponsors of research; negotiates equipment service contracts and pricing for repairs to ensure appropriate maintenance of laboratory equipment; monitors and enforces laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.

Minimum Education Required

Master's or Doctorate (Academic) or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in biology.

Required Qualifications

Extensive experience in biological/health science research capacity required; 5 years of relevant experience; experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity preferred; extensive experience planning and developing projects preferred; extensive knowledge and expertise in ELISA development and cytokine/cellular interaction required. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.  A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
