Position Highlights

The laboratory of Dr. Won Hee Lee in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix is seeking to fill a Researcher/Scientist III position in translational radiation biology and biomedical sciences, especially in the setting of cardiovascular diseases. One of the main goals of the Lee lab is to use a combination of patient-specific human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), primary human cells/tissues, along with animal models, to develop a platform for the evaluation of radiation risk and cardiovascular toxicity associated with environmental exposure, such as e-cigarette and smoking. PhD level training is highly desired for this position. Experience working in cardiovascular research, stem cell biology, and animal models of cardiac disease or radiation biology is desirable.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design and perform experiments, interpret data, and analyze results.
  • Participate or author articles in peer-reviewed journals, books or chapter publications. Participate or present at conferences.
  • Participate in the acquisition of research funding by initiating and writing grant proposals.
  • Train students and technical staffs in the performance of technical procedures.
  • Assist with the maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies inventory.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology, stem cell biology or a related field.

• Extensive experience in culturing and differentiation of stem cells, animal models of cardiac disease, as well as expertise in the use of confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, and molecular biology would be ideal.

• A strong record of peer-reviewed research papers with at least two first-author publications in reputable journals.

• Excellent verbal and written skills in English are required.
